التطريز الفلسطيني مادة غنية واستثنائية، تجمع بين ما هو بصري وما هو ملموس وحميمي وسياسي وشاق.
يتحدى «أطراف الخيوط» الارتباطات التقليدية للتطريز وكل ما هو قديم وهامشي، ويفتح آفاقاً جديدة للتوسع والتعمق في مقاربة تاريخ فن التطريز الفلسطيني ما بين أواخرِ القرن العشرين وأوائل القرن الحادي والعشرين. واجه التطريز الفلسطيني خلال العقود الماضية تحولات غنية وحيوية، تخطت ما عرفه من حياة ثرية قبل عام ١٩٤٨، مساهماً في صياغة أشكال من الهوية الوطنية القائمة على التراث، ومن المقاومة والكفاح، مشكلاً قوة اقتصادية ناشئة، وتحدياً للعنف البنيوي والثقافي لدولة إسرائيل.
سيرافق معرض "أطراف الخيوط" إطلاق مطبوع بحثي جديد وبرنامج تثقيفي تفاعلي عام في بيروت.
Embroidery is extraordinary material – tactile, intimate, labourious, political. At the Seams breaks new ground in extending the history of Palestinian embroidery into the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Beyond its rich life before 1948, embroidery has undergone dynamic transformation in the decades since – constituting forms of heritage-driven nationalism, militant resistance, nascent economic power and challenge to the infrastructural and cultural violence of the Israeli state.
At the Seams will be accompanied by a research-driven publication and dynamic educational and public program in Beirut.
